Naples, Fort Myers restaurants named among best in Florida on Yelp list

Diana Biederman | Naples Daily News

Yelp released its Top 100 restaurants in Florida list for 2023 based on the platform’s user reviews. Fort Myers and Naples claimed three spots on the list at numbers 57, 84 and 100.

Only one restaurant on the list is a repeat winner from 2022: Café Flore (No. 23), Petar’s (No. 59) and Rumba Cuban Cafe (last year’s overall fifth place winner) are absent this year.

And the winners are

  • Uncle Rico’s Pizza (No. 57): Although this popular pizza joint didn’t earn bracket love from News-Press readers, Yelpers love it…
  • Organically Twisted (No. 84): Starting as a food truck in 2013, John Hart’s Organically Twisted emerged as Naples must-visit vegetarian-vegan-gluten-free temple…
  • Dixie Fish Co. (No. 100): After Hurricane Ian slammed the restaurant, it re-opened Feb. 23, earning the last coveted slot on Yelp’s list…

Southwest Florida’s tourism industry shows its strength and spirit post-Ian

Southwest Florida’s tourism industry shows its strength and spirit post-Ian

Laura Layden | Fort Myers News-Press

There’s no sugarcoating it.

Hurricane Ian hammered Southwest Florida’s vibrant and growing tourism industry.

Before the storm made landfall in September, 2022 looked to be a record year.

Then came the unexpected and the unthinkable: A near-Category 5 storm that caused mass destruction, along and near the coast, with powerful winds and an even more powerful storm surge the likes of which has never been seen in Southwest Florida.

The hurricane hit Lee County especially hard.

Barrier islands took the brunt of the storm, including tourism hotspots such Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva, which will take years to rebuild after suffering catastrophic losses to homes, businesses and landmarks, including coastal hotels and resorts.

Collier County took some big hits too, such as in the Vanderbilt Beach area where the Ritz Carlton, Naples was forced to close for major repairs and lay off hundreds of workers. But it was spared much of the widespread devastation that clobbered Lee County. Collier’s tourism industry rebounded more quickly, though not yet fully.

With so much devastation, Lee has not surprisingly seen a big drop in tourism, but the industry is bouncing back, with its bridges and arms back open to visitors.

Naples Area Market Report February 2023

Naples Area Market Report February 2023

Inventory Up and Prices Hold Steady in February

Naples, Fla. (March 24, 2023) – Buyers looking for homes in Naples during February were met with more choices as overall inventory increased 131.4 percent to 2,835 properties from 1,225 properties in February 2022. Broker analysts reviewing the February 2023 Market Report by the Naples Area Board of REALTORS® (NABOR®), which tracks home listings and sales within Collier County (excluding Marco Island), attribute some of the rise in inventory to Hurricane Ian as many sellers were forced to address and remedy damage caused by the storm before the property was ready to welcome buyers. February’s overall median closed price is the same as January’s median close price of $600,000.

The NABOR® February 2023 Market Report provides comparisons of single-family home and condominium sales (via the Southwest Florida MLS), price ranges, and geographic segmentation and includes an overall market summary. NABOR® sales statistics are presented in chart format, including these overall (single-family and condominium) findings for 2023:

A waterfront estate has hit the market for more than $174 million in the posh neighborhood of Port Royal.

The exact price tag: $174,747,536.

That’s unheard of in Naples.

The beachfront property, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, is expansive, stretching more than 8.5 acres, making it a rarity.

More of a rarity: Neighboring property is up for sale too, on both sides, with the potential to carve out an even larger one-of-kind estate on Naples’ highly-coveted Gordon Drive.

A trio of legacy properties are for sale
Gulf Coast International Properties, a high-end brokerage in Naples, is the exclusive listing agent for all three properties.
