The top 10 most expensive homes sold in Collier and Lee in 2018

It’s been a challenging year for Southwest Florida.

Especially with such obstacles to overcome as recovering from Hurricane Irma, which hit in 2017, and the more recent crises of red tide and algae blooms along our coasts.

But in 2018, the luxury home market still managed to flourish in Lee and Collier counties and even broke records despite all the setbacks.
In June, the priciest home to ever sell in Southwest Florida , was a six-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion in Port Royal that sold for $48.8 million.

The beachfront estate at 2500 Gordon Drive, with 9,394 square feet of space, was listed at $60.9 million.

Last year’s most expensive home that sold in Collier was a six-bedroom custom estate home at 3750 Rum Row in Port Royal for $17.7 million. And in 2016, a Port Royal home that sold for $15.15 million was the winner.

Lee County’s biggest home sale in 2018 was a home at 4561 Shore Lane in Boca Grande that sold in August for $9.5 million.
In 2017, the most expensive home to sell in Lee County was a four-bedroom beachfront home on Sanibel Island for $7.2 million. And in 2016, a home on Captiva sold for $16.3 million.

Fort Myers also broke a record when a five-bedroom estate sold for $7 million this year, making it the priciest home sale in the Fort Myers area, according to Lee data.

Overall, Lee and Collier saw an increase in sales for multi-million-dollar homes in 2018 compared with last year.

“2018 has been a good year for the upper priced homes in Naples,” said Brenda Fioretti, managing broker at Berkshire Hathaway. “This price range experienced the largest increase in sales out of all of the price ranges.”

In Collier, there were 16 homes that sold for more than $10 million in 2018. That compares to 11 that sold in 2017, according to property data.

In Lee, there were 16 homes that sold for more than $5 million in 2018, compared to seven homes that sold in 2017, according to Lee property data.
