Watching the construction of the new Naples Pier is witnessing an engineering marvel.
Especially from above.
Naples Daily New drone pilot Ricardo Rolon flew our drone over the pier site on Sept. 21 for a progress report on their pier that is replacing the pier that was destroyed on Sept. 28, 2022 by historic Hurricane Ian.
Since a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Naples Pier back in early January, crews have been working diligently on all aspects of what is promised to be a stronger and more resilient pier for future storms, with an accessible design and features to protect local wildlife.
After the old pier was demolished in about four months, construction of the new pier has been moving along with a timeline of 14 months to finish. The expectation is sometime in the middle of 2027 residents, snowbirds and tourists will once again be able to walk out into the gulf to watch the sunset, fish, or just hang out.
