Move over New York and Chicago. Step aside San Francisco.
A new study names Naples as a top city for corporate headquarters post-pandemic.
The Boyd Co., a corporate site selection consultant based in Princeton, New Jersey, conducted the national study.
The results reflect the “new normal” of remote work and the growing “fiscal and quality of life challenges” in more traditional hubs for head offices, such as “The Big Apple.”
What factors did the study look at?
The study included an examination of annual operating expenses and a review of state tax structures.
The cost analysis is based on operating a new, top tier Class A, 75,000-square-foot corporate headquarters, with 200 administrative support workers, from top to bottom.
The estimated outlay in Naples: Roughly $19.2 million a year.
That compared to more than $21.1 million in Everett, Washington, the most expensive to operate in, and less than $17.8 million in East Brainerd, Tennessee, the cheapest – among the top cities named in the study.

Naples City Council will discuss potential changes to its land development code at a Monday workshop.
The council has recently made some changes to its development rules. It’s looking to make more of them, with the vision and goal of protecting the city’s small-town charm.
Here’s what we know:
Proposed Naples land development code changes to be discussed
-
The city is considering four land use changes. That includes new limits on lot coverage ‒ or building footprint –which has sparked controversy.
-
The other proposed changes would increase height restrictions for commercial and mixed-used buildings, stiffen development standards for Fifth Avenue South, and tighten up on regulations for determining the maximum density and intensity, or size, of mixed-used projects.
-
The city has hired a planning consultant to make recommendations on how to move forward.
-
The private consultant, Josh Martin, with Sustainable Settlement LLC, is calling for more public input before crafting any revisions.
-
The consultant has suggested the city hold “two or three community listening sessions” to ensure a more “thoughtful process.”

It was a record year for Southwest Florida International Airport for total number of passengers who traveled to and from the Fort Myers airport.
Last week it was reported that RSW finished 2022 with 10,343,802 passengers, eclipsing the previous record set in 2021.
Taking it one step further, the airport has shared the 2022 rankings for the commercial airlines that have routes in and out of RSW. It’s not a competition. There is no trophy awarded that we are aware of, but it is something travelers might find interesting to know as they pass the time in the terminal waiting to take off or waiting for a loved one to arrive.
Delta heads the lineup.
